Laser Skin Resurfacing
The use of laser technology for skin resurfacing offers a gentle, effective alternative to cosmetic surgery that dramatically improves skin surface imperfections.
If age spots, freckles, acne scars, liver spots or birthmarks trouble you, laser skin resurfacing may help.
During this procedure, Dr. Fortes uses a laser to remove areas of damaged or wrinkled skin, layer by layer. This procedure is most commonly used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially those that appear around the mouth and eyes, but laser resurfacing also may be performed on the whole face.
Laser technology also is effective in treating areas of uneven skin pigmentation. Pigmentation in age spots, freckles, scars or birthmarks is often caused by a high concentration of melanin in a specific area. (Melanin is a pigment that determines skin, hair or eye color.) The precision of the laser allows Dr. Fortes to target specific areas of the skin to then absorb the melanin, resulting in lightening of the pigmentation or complete removal.
Often, this procedure is completed in conjunction with other cosmetic surgery procedures, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery
